What is a mandate and how to create them for SIPs?

A mandate/autopay is an authorisation you provide to your bank, allowing automatic debits from your account for a specific purpose, such as SIP investments.

By setting up a mandate, you enable your bank to process payments on your behalf at scheduled intervals without requiring manual approval each time. This ensures timely transactions, eliminating the need for recurring manual interventions, and provides a seamless investment experience.

Setting up mandate/autopay for your SIPs is a simple process. Follow the steps below to complete it seamlessly:

Step 1: Select Your Fund & Enter Investment Details

  1. Choose the mutual fund you wish to invest in.
  2. Enter your investment details, including the amount and instalment date.
  3. Proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Setup a New AutoPay

  1. You will see an option to Set up new AutoPay—click on it.
  2. Select the bank account for AutoPay creation. If your preferred bank is not listed, you can add a new bank account at this step.
  3. Click Setup AutoPay to proceed.

Step 3: Choose a Mode & Set AutoPay Limit

  1. We recommend selecting the Digital mode as it is faster and hassle-free compared to the physical mode.
  2. Set a maximum AutoPay limit (between ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh).
  3. Click Continue to move forward.

Step 4: Verify the AutoPay Mandate

  1. Wait for the verification link to generate. Once available, click Verify Mandate.
  2. The BSE Star MF authentication window will open.
  3. Verify your email using either:
    • Login with Google (recommended)
    • Sending a code to your registered email

Step 5: Authenticate Your Mandate via Aadhaar & Bank OTP

  1. You will see the Mandate Overview screen—review all details.
  2. Choose a verification mode and proceed:
    • If using Aadhaar verification, check the consent box and click Submit.

  1. On the next screen, review your mandate details and click Proceed.

  1. Read the disclaimer, check the consent box, and click Proceed.

  1. Enter your Aadhaar number and click Submit.

  1. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number linked with Aadhaar—enter it and click Submit.

  1. Now, enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your selected bank account and click Submit.

Step 6: Confirmation & Final Steps

  • If authentication is successful, you will see an E-NACH success screen.

  • Return to the Equirus Wealth window that was already open.
  • If you have completed all steps correctly, click Done.

  • A success message will confirm that your AutoPay setup has been successfully initiated at BSE.
  • You will receive a notification once your AutoPay is active.
